Pre – University Versus 11th and 12th Grades In School

It is very common for someone who has just cleared their 10th grade to face the dilemma of choosing a PUC or another educational board for their 11th and 12th. We have been told for a very long time how “crucial” these next two years are and how our decisions now will shape our future. Therefore, there is more pressure when choosing a good board for grades 11 and 12. Bangalore is famous for being one of the largest educational hubs in India, and every parent would want their child to be in a college there. As a parent, you might have often found yourself searching for Bangalore PUC colleges or other board colleges for your child.

There are numerous viewpoints regarding how PUC is superior to the other boards and vice versa. But identifying what will work the best for us, above all else, is the first step in this process.

Educational Boards

  • CBSE – The Union Government of India controls the Central Board of Secondary Education, a national board of education. This Board conducts board exams for students in the 10th and 12th grades and updates its curriculum as needed to assist pupils.
  • CISCE – The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations for Class 10th and Class 12th, respectively, are administered by the privately held national-level board of school education in India known as CISCE
  • NIOS – Similar to the CBSE and the CISCE, the NIOS is a national board that conducts exams for secondary and senior secondary levels. It also provides vocational training after high school.

PUC

The state education board in India offers an intermediate level called Pre-University Course. Under national-level boards, it serves as a stand-in for the 11th and 12th standards. A few state boards in India only offer this course because nearly all national and state boards offer education up to the 12th grade. In some state boards, this Pre-University Course is also referred to as the Intermediate Course and the HSC.

The differences between the two

ParticularsEducational BoardsPUC
SyllabusThe curriculum and degree of difficulty differ from State Boards. The subject matter covered in the state board’s syllabus and the other boards is similar.
LearningThe curriculum offers instruction using a more scientific approach.State curriculum places more emphasis on the application of related subjects.
Mode of InstructionThe language of instruction in these schools is Hindi and English.Boards of state schools give priority to English, followed by regional tongues.
Marking systemSince the examinations of these boards are more difficult, the likelihood of success declines.In-State Board exams allow students to perform better because the evaluation is under the oversight of the relevant state authorities.

Other activities

The three educational boards and the State Board offer virtually comparable levels of flexibility for pupils to participate in extracurricular activities or sporting competitions. It depends on the intention of the individual institution to shape the academic structure in a way that not only accommodates but also aids in the student’s skill development.

Conclusion

In the long term, picking the appropriate Board for your child can be significant. Students’ futures and careers depend entirely on their efforts, school, teachers, and parents.
